Project Rosewood — Official Game Rules & Community Guidelines

These are the complete and official rules for Project Rosewood, maintained by RIVET Studios™. All players, community members, and staff are bound by these rules across all official game servers, Discord platforms, and affiliated services. Participation in any RIVET Studios™ service constitutes full acknowledgment and agreement to abide by everything listed here. Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense against moderation action.

The Moderation Team enforces rules based on severity, intent, and prior history. Moderators are strictly prohibited from creating or enforcing rules not listed in this document. If a punishment is issued under an incorrect or inapplicable violation, it is procedurally invalid and should be appealed immediately.

Enforcement Philosophy

RIVET Studios™ operates under a Guide First philosophy. Where possible — particularly for first-time and lower-tier violations — the primary goal of moderation is education, not punishment. Players who are unfamiliar with community standards should be corrected with a Teaching Moment before escalating to formal action. This does not apply to Tier 3 violations or any offense carrying a No Appeal designation.

Teaching Moment

An informal correction used for first-time Tier 1 violations. The player is educated on the rule they broke. No formal ban is issued.

Official Warning

A formal, logged warning issued when a Teaching Moment has already been given or when the violation warrants a step above informal correction.

Moderator Discretion

Some violations do not fit neatly into the ladder. In these cases, the attending moderator assesses severity, context, and history before issuing an action.

Committee Review

Reserved for severe or repeated violations. The case is escalated beyond the attending moderator to a review committee for a final determination.

Indefinite Ban

A ban with no set end date. May be reviewed through the formal appeal process.

Committee Audit

The most serious escalation path for Tier 1 violations. The player's full moderation history is reviewed by the committee.

Severity Classification

🟢 Minor

Low-impact or accidental infractions. Education is the primary tool. Usually resolved with a Teaching Moment on the first offense.

🟡 Moderate

Violations that directly impact the integrity of the simulation. Leniency is still expected, particularly for first-time offenders.

🔴 Severe

Highly disruptive actions. While the Guide First philosophy applies where possible, durations are increased to ensure the community remains safe.

🔴🔴 Critical

Extreme misconduct involving safety risks, integrity violations, or exploitation. Results in a permanent non-appealable ban in most cases.

🟣 No Appeal

Overrides all severity levels. A ban with this tag cannot be contested, reversed, or waived under any circumstances.

⬛ Zero Tolerance

Acted upon immediately upon discovery. The first instance results in instant permanent action with no warning system.

Tier 1 — Minor Procedural & Discord Infractions

These violations are often the result of a lack of familiarity with community standards. Education is the primary tool for resolution. A Teaching Moment should be the default first response before any formal action is considered.

Tier 1 Rule Definitions

Rule & Code

What it covers

Radio / Boombox Abuse
AOR

Misusing the department radio or in-game Boombox — broadcasting false or disruptive information, playing loud or distorted audio ("earrape"), using the radio for non-department communication, or playing hateful/explicit content through the Boombox. Both tools are for legitimate use only and must be treated accordingly.

Help System Abuse
V-HS

Misusing the in-game !help command by submitting false, spam, or joke reports. The help system exists for genuine moderation needs — abuse wastes staff time and delays legitimate reports from other players.

New Life Rule
NLR

Upon death, your character begins a new life with no memory of events leading to their death. You may not return to the location of your death for a minimum of 5 minutes and may not act on any knowledge from your previous life. Does not apply to respawns caused by a verified bug — contact staff immediately if that occurs.

Cuff Rushing / Scene Interference
CR / RSI

Cuff Rushing: Immediately attempting to handcuff a player without a proper RP buildup — you must first issue verbal commands, establish a clear arrest scenario, and give the subject a reasonable opportunity to comply. Applying cuffs without any of these steps is Cuff Rushing regardless of whether the arrest would otherwise be valid. This is one of the most commonly reported violations in the server and is enforced consistently.

Scene Interference: Inserting yourself into a roleplay scene you have no legitimate in-character reason to be part of — interrupting an active arrest, entering a medical scene to disrupt EMS, or injecting yourself into any situation where your character has no established stake. If you were not involved from the beginning of a scene, you generally have no right to intervene.

Police Baiting / GTA Driving
PB / GTA-D

Police Baiting: Deliberately performing illegal or disruptive actions near Law Enforcement solely to trigger a response, then running or ignoring them with no genuine criminal RP intent.
GTA Driving: Operating a vehicle in an aggressively reckless manner with no realistic RP motivation — wrong-way driving at high speed, using a vehicle as a battering ram, or performing stunts with no RP justification. High-speed pursuits with law enforcement are not GTA Driving.

Interfering with FD / EMS
IWFD

Disrupting Fire Department or EMS personnel during an active response — blocking a medical scene, attacking EMS treating a patient, using a scene as cover from law enforcement, or otherwise impeding their roleplay duties. EMS and FD are non-combatant roles and must be treated accordingly.

Horn Spamming
HS

Repeatedly activating your vehicle horn with no legitimate RP purpose — sustained, rapid spam purely to annoy or disrupt other players. A horn used to signal another driver or warn of danger is not a violation.

Chat Bypass
CB

Circumventing or bypassing the in-game chat filter through intentional misspellings, character substitutions, spacing tricks, or any other method designed to post content that would otherwise be blocked. The filter exists for a reason — attempting to work around it is a violation regardless of what was being posted.

Tier 2 — Moderate Operational Violations

Violations in this tier directly impact the integrity of the simulation. Leniency is still expected, particularly for first-time offenders, but formal action begins at first offense.

Tier 2 Rule Definitions

Rule & Code

What it covers

Fail / Fear Roleplay
FRP

Fail RP: Performing actions that are physically impossible or wildly unrealistic — surviving instantly fatal scenarios, ignoring sustained injuries, or using respawn mechanics mid-scene to escape a situation.
Fear RP: Failing to value your character's life when a reasonable person would be genuinely afraid. The most common example is being held at gunpoint and choosing to sprint away, fight back unarmed, or completely ignore the threat. Fear RP applies when you are clearly outmatched, outnumbered, or facing an imminent lethal threat. It does not apply in all combat situations — context is evaluated.

Power Gaming / Meta Gaming
PG / MG

Power Gaming: Forcing unrealistic or impossible actions onto another player without giving them a fair opportunity to react — instantly restraining someone without RP buildup, claiming abilities your character shouldn't have, or declaring outcomes without consent.
Meta Gaming: Using information your character could not have legitimately obtained in-world — acting on info received via Discord, knowing someone's location because you heard it OOC, stream sniping, or returning to a scene after death because you remember where it was. If your character was not there to witness it, they do not know it.

Seller Camping
SC

Stationing yourself at or near a seller or NPC interaction point with the intent to repeatedly ambush, kill, arrest, or harass players the moment they arrive. One interaction near a seller is not camping — the violation is sustained, deliberate presence with hostile intent that denies players safe access to basic game functions.

Vehicle Deathmatch
VDM

Using a vehicle as a weapon to ram or run over another player without a roleplay-backed reason. Accidents during chases are evaluated by context and intent — deliberate, repeated ramming with no RP motivation is VDM.

False Report to Staff
FRS

Deliberately submitting a knowingly false or fabricated report with the intent to waste staff time or trigger a moderation sit against a player without basis. Mistaken reports submitted in good faith are not punished — the violation requires deliberate intent to deceive.

Player Toxicity
TOX

Insulting, belittling, or harassing another player or staff member outside of an in-character context. Includes derogatory remarks, targeted harassment in chat, verbal abuse during a moderation sit, and sustained negative behavior toward a specific individual. In-character conflict that remains within the bounds of roleplay is not covered by this rule.

Abuse of Game Mechanics
AGM

Using legitimate, working game mechanics in ways clearly unintended by the development team that negatively impact other players. A broadly applied catch-all for edge cases not covered by more specific rules. Punishment severity is determined by the moderator based on scale of impact and whether the behavior appears deliberate.

Tool / Team Abuse
TA / AOT

Tool Abuse: Using a team-specific tool in a way not intended by its design — handcuffing players outside a legitimate arrest, misusing department equipment against civilians without cause, or abusing job-specific items for an unfair advantage.

Abuse of Teams: Joining a team for purposes that contradict its intended role — joining FD or DOT then fleeing from police in a department vehicle, using EMS access to enter restricted areas for non-medical purposes, or joining a civilian support role to engage in criminal activity using that team's equipment.

Important note for whitelisted role players: If you are new to a whitelisted team, you are expected to read that team's conduct standards before taking action on the server. "I didn't know" is considered during first-offense review, but it does not prevent enforcement. Ignorance of role-specific rules is not a complete defense once a player has accepted whitelist access.

Interfering with Staff
IWS

Interrupting or inserting yourself into an active moderation sit without being directly involved — following a moderator and their participants, distracting players in a sit, or harassing staff while they handle another player. Stay completely clear of sits unless called upon.

Tier 3 — Major Behavioral Disruptions

These actions are considered highly disruptive. While the Guide First philosophy applies where possible, ban durations are significantly increased to ensure the community remains safe. Several Tier 3 violations begin with a ban at first offense with no warning step.

Tier 3 Rule Definitions

Rule & Code

What it covers

Random Deathmatch
RDM

Killing or attacking another player without a clearly established in-character reason. The standard is not whether you believe you had a reason — it is whether a reasonable outside observer, given only what was witnessed in-game, would agree that the situation credibly justified lethal action.

What does NOT count as a valid RP reason for violence:

  • A hitlist or bounty that was never communicated or witnessed in-game

  • A gang affiliation or verbal agreement made outside the game or in Discord

  • "Everyone else was shooting so I joined in"

  • Personal frustration or retaliation after being killed

  • Assuming someone is a threat before any hostile action has occurred

  • A reason that existed only in your head and was never established through roleplay

What DOES count as a valid RP reason:

  • An active, witnessed altercation or confrontation that has credibly escalated to violence

  • A documented criminal scenario with a clear chain of events leading to the kill

  • Self-defense in response to an attack that has already occurred in-game

  • An established in-character relationship or conflict with a history visible to staff

If you are unsure whether your reason meets the standard, it probably does not. Contact staff before acting, not after.

Spawn / Team Killing
SK / TK

Spawn Killing: Targeting and killing players at their spawn point before they have had any opportunity to enter the game world.
Team Killing: Intentionally killing a member of your own team — primarily applies to Law Enforcement with friendly fire access. Accidental TK during active firefights is reviewed with context; deliberate TK is enforced strictly.

Leave / Reset to Avoid Arrest or Punishment
LTAA / RTAA

Leave to Avoid Arrest (LTAA): Leaving the game during an active pursuit or detainment to avoid being arrested.
Reset to Avoid Arrest (RTAA): Using the character reset function to escape an arrest or ongoing law enforcement interaction.

Both are treated identically. Leaving or resetting right before, during, or immediately after a law enforcement interaction is a violation regardless of the stated reason.

Game crash policy: If your game crashes during a law enforcement interaction, you are expected to:
1. Reconnect to the server within a reasonable timeframe (generally within 10 minutes)
2. Return to address the situation with the officer involved, or contact staff proactively

Failure to do either will be treated as LTAA. If you submit an appeal claiming a game crash, you must provide a screenshot of the crash screen or client error as evidence. A crash claim submitted without any supporting evidence will not be accepted. Moderators review the timing and pattern of disconnections when assessing LTAA — a pattern of "crashes" coinciding with active pursuits carries no weight as a defense.

Body Humping (Erotic)
BH

Moving your character against another player's character in a way that simulates inappropriate physical contact. Always considered out-of-character, never excused under a roleplay context. RIVET Studios™ has a zero-tolerance position on sexualized in-game behavior and this will be enforced immediately upon discovery.

Trolling
TR

Joining the server with the deliberate intent to ruin the experience for others rather than participate in roleplay. Includes purposely disrupting active scenes, repeated nonsensical behavior in a serious RP environment, and demonstrating zero interest in the server's intended purpose.

No Intent to Roleplay
NITRP

Being present in the server with no genuine desire to participate in RP — repeatedly refusing to engage with scenarios, exclusively griefing, or being on the server for purposes clearly incompatible with its design.

NITRP is issued after other attempts to engage the player have failed. It should not be confused with a player who is new, confused, or simply playing at a slower pace — education comes first.

Evidence requirement: All NITRP bans must be supported by video evidence demonstrating a sustained pattern of disengagement or deliberate disruption. A single incident or a player simply not being active is insufficient. Without video evidence, a NITRP ban is procedurally difficult to uphold on review.

Leave to Avoid Punishment
LTAP

Disconnecting while a staff member is actively conducting a moderation sit with you, or immediately after being called to one. The LTAP punishment is applied on top of whatever action would have been taken for the original violation. Chronic LTAP offenders escalate rapidly to indefinite bans due to repeated obstruction of the moderation process.

Exploits, Cheating & Identity Violations

These violations bypass the standard tiered punishment system entirely. They are acted upon immediately and carry permanent consequences in all cases. There is no Teaching Moment, warning, or progressive ladder for any offense listed below.

Rule & Code

What it covers

Punishment

Severity

Exploiting / Cheating
EXP

Using any third-party software, script executor, mod menu, or external tool to gain an advantage not accessible through normal gameplay — aimbots, speed hacks, teleportation scripts, no-clip exploits, infinite health or ammo modifications, or any tool that manipulates the game client or server in an unauthorized way. No progressive steps; first offense is a permanent non-appealable ban.

🟣 No Appeal

Conspiring with an Exploiter
C-EXP

Knowingly cooperating with, assisting, or benefiting from a player who is exploiting. Actively receiving items, protection, or tactical advantages from an exploiter makes you a co-conspirator. "I didn't know" is reviewed skeptically when sustained proximity and interaction with the exploiter is evident. Report exploiters to staff immediately.

Glitching
GL

Intentionally exploiting a known bug or unintended game mechanic to gain an advantage — clipping through walls, using collision exploits to trap players, or triggering duplication bugs. Accidentally discovering a glitch is not a violation; deliberately using it after discovery is. Report it to staff immediately and stop using it.

Alternative Accounts
AA

Using a secondary Roblox account to access the server while your primary is banned, or to circumvent any restriction. Community & Fandom Safety Policy

RIVET Studios™ is a professional game development community. This policy filters content and behavior that is fetish-adjacent, predatory, or promotes agendas incompatible with our values. All enforcement must be based on objective visual or behavioral evidence, and all bans must have a screenshot attached to the moderation log.

Category

Prohibited

Permitted

Profile Aesthetics

Fetish indicators in profile pictures, banners, or statuses — collars, leashes, muzzle-gags, or "murrsuit" aesthetics. Suggestive anime or Gacha content including Loli/Shota (regardless of stated "lore age"), Ahegao expressions, or Gacha Heat edits.

SFW anthropomorphic characters, mascots, standard anime portraits, game screenshots, hobby or work-related content.

Predatory Statuses

"Looking For" (LF) statuses with age ranges or seeking romantic partners. Age-gap tags. DNI lists targeting moderation or safety-focused groups. RIVET Studios™ is not a dating platform.

Work-related info, general gaming tags, hobbyist descriptions, project promotion.

Agenda Pushing

Forcing niche subculture slang into professional or development channels. Sharing invite links to communities known for adult-minor crossover or fetish content. Sustained identity-focused discussions that derail game development conversations.

Personal expression in appropriate contexts. Casual community conversation in designated channels.

Staff Rule: Do not ban for standard SFW content. Bans under this policy are limited to content that is visually suggestive, fetish-linked, or behaviorally predatory. If a user is simply "annoying" but follows all rules, no ban is issued. All actions must be defensible with a screenshot or behavioral log entry.
