RIVET Studios™ — Official Community Discord Rulebook

Last Revised: 2026 | Enforced by the RIVET Studios™ Leadership & Moderation Team

Welcome to the official RIVET Studios™ Discord server. This server functions as the central hub for our community, development updates, player engagement, and internal coordination. It is a professional space maintained to a high standard. By joining and remaining in this server, you unconditionally agree to every rule outlined in this document. Ignorance of a rule is not an acceptable excuse for violating it.

This rulebook is a living document. Rules may be added, removed, or amended at any time at the discretion of RIVET Studios™ Leadership. It is your responsibility to stay informed of any changes.

Section I — Eligibility & Account Standards

1.1 — Age Requirement

RIVET Studios™ operates as a teen-oriented (13+) community. All members must be at least 13 years of age at the time of joining. Any individual found to be misrepresenting their age — through any means, including falsifying their profile, lying in conversation, or circumventing age-verification procedures — will be permanently banned and blacklisted from all RIVET Studios™ platforms, services, and future projects. This is a zero-tolerance policy with no appeals process.

1.2 — Account Authenticity

All members must join using a legitimate, personally owned Discord account. The use of alternate accounts ("alts"), bot-controlled accounts, or shared accounts to bypass a ban, evade moderation, or obscure your identity is strictly prohibited. If a banned user is found rejoining on an alternate account, the ban will be extended to all known associated accounts and the original ban made permanent if it was not already. Ban evasion may also be reported to Discord Trust & Safety.

1.3 — Account Security & Responsibility

You are solely and fully responsible for all activity conducted under your Discord account. If your account is compromised and used to break rules, your account will still be actioned accordingly. RIVET Studios™ moderation is not responsible for actions taken by third parties on your account. We strongly encourage all members to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on their Discord accounts. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact Discord support immediately and notify our staff via a support ticket.

1.4 — One Account Per Member

Each person is permitted one active account in this server at any time. Maintaining multiple accounts in this server simultaneously — for any reason — is not permitted and may result in all accounts being removed.

Section II — Identity, Impersonation & Representation

2.1 — Staff & Developer Impersonation

It is strictly forbidden to impersonate, falsely represent, or imply affiliation with any member of the RIVET Studios™ staff, moderation team, development team, or corporate leadership in any capacity. This includes — but is not limited to — using similar usernames, copying staff profile photos, falsely claiming roles or permissions, or instructing others as though you hold authority you do not possess.

Punishment: Permanent Ban, no appeal.

2.2 — Impersonation of Other Members

Impersonating or intentionally mimicking another community member in a way designed to deceive, defame, or cause confusion is also prohibited. This includes copying their username, avatar, or posting content while pretending to be them.

Punishment: Permanent Ban.

2.3 — False Credentials & Misrepresentation

Falsely claiming professional credentials, employment status, prior project involvement, or industry relationships to gain credibility or access within the community is prohibited. This includes claiming to work for studios, publishers, or platforms you have no affiliation with.

2.4 — Authentic Self-Representation

While you are not required to use your real name, you are expected to represent yourself honestly. Deliberately constructing a false identity for the purpose of manipulation, deception, or exploitation of other members is grounds for removal.

Section III — Profile & Presentation Standards

3.1 — Profile Photo (Avatar) Standards

Your profile photo must meet the following requirements at all times while you are a member of this server:

  • No sexually explicit, nude, or suggestive imagery.

  • No graphic violence, gore, or disturbing imagery.

  • No imagery associated with hate groups, extremist ideologies, or discriminatory symbols.

  • No highly stylized content associated with high-risk subcultures that conflict with our professional branding (e.g., fetish imagery, extreme body modification aesthetics).

  • No content that violates Discord's Terms of Service.

Staff reserve the right to request a profile photo change at their discretion. Failure to comply within a reasonable timeframe will result in removal from the server.

3.2 — Display Name & Username Standards

Your display name must be readable, reasonable, and non-offensive. The following are not permitted as display names:

  • Names that contain slurs, hate speech, or targeted insults.

  • Names designed to impersonate staff or other members.

  • Names consisting entirely of special characters, invisible characters, or characters that render poorly across platforms.

  • Names that promote illegal activity, explicit content, or dangerous ideologies.

  • Names that are excessively long or designed to spam name-mention notifications.

Staff may require a name change at any time. Refusal to comply is grounds for removal.

3.3 — Bio & Status Standards

Your Discord bio and custom status are visible to all members and must comply with the same content standards as the rest of your profile. The following are explicitly prohibited:

  • Solicitation of romantic connections, dating, or age-specific relationships (e.g., "looking for an older/younger partner").

  • Advertising external services, social media accounts, or storefronts without prior written permission from Leadership.

  • "Do Not Interact" (DNI) lists that imply exclusionary or identity-based hostility toward other members.

  • Content that references illegal activity, self-harm, or substances.

  • Explicit sexual or fetish-related content.

3.4 — Server Banner & Decorations

Any server-specific profile decorations (banners, profile effects where applicable) must also adhere to the content standards outlined in this section. Banners containing sexually explicit imagery, hate symbols, or content violating Discord ToS are not permitted.

Section IV — Communication Standards

4.1 — General Conduct

All communication within the RIVET Studios™ Discord — including text channels, voice channels, threads, forum posts, and direct messages facilitated through the server — must be respectful, constructive, and professional. You do not have to agree with everyone, but you must engage with decency. Personal attacks, targeted mockery, and deliberate attempts to humiliate others will not be tolerated.

4.2 — Harassment & Targeted Behavior

Harassment is defined as any repeated, unwanted behavior directed at a specific individual or group with the intent to distress, intimidate, or demean. This includes:

  • Sending repeated unsolicited messages after being asked to stop.

  • Following a user across channels to continue an argument or confrontation.

  • Deliberately misgendering or deadnaming a member after being corrected.

  • Sustained negative attention, pile-ons, or coordinated targeting of a member.

  • Weaponizing reports or moderation systems to falsely target others.

Punishment: Temporary ban minimum. Permanent ban for severe or repeated violations.

4.3 — Hate Speech & Discrimination

Content that dehumanizes, demeans, threatens, or incites hatred toward any individual or group based on protected characteristics — including but not limited to race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or age — is absolutely prohibited. This applies equally to "ironic," "joking," or "satirical" framing. Context does not excuse the content.

Punishment: Permanent Ban.

4.4 — Threats & Intimidation

Any statement that constitutes a threat — physical, digital, financial, legal, or otherwise — directed at any community member, staff member, or third party will result in immediate and permanent removal. This includes veiled threats, implied threats, and "hypothetical" scenarios clearly intended to intimidate.

Serious threats may be reported to the relevant authorities in addition to the ban.

Punishment: Permanent Ban. Possible referral to law enforcement.

4.5 — Slurs & Offensive Language

The use of slurs — racial, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise — is never acceptable, regardless of how they are framed, who uses them, or whether they are directed at a specific person. This includes partial spellings, intentional misspellings designed to evade filters, and using slurs "reclaimed" by a group you are not a member of.

4.6 — Baiting, Trolling & Bad-Faith Engagement

Engaging with members in bad faith — including deliberately provocative statements, baiting others into emotional reactions, intentionally derailing conversations, or posting inflammatory content for attention — is prohibited. Moderators have full discretion to act on behavior that is clearly disruptive even when it does not fit neatly into a specific rule.

4.7 — Excessive Profanity

While this is an adult community and casual language is accepted, the use of profanity must remain proportionate and contextually appropriate. Flooding channels with excessive cursing, using profanity as a weapon against others, or using language that is degrading and targeted is not acceptable.

4.8 — Arguing with Moderation

If you receive a moderation action, the correct course of action is to submit a formal appeal through the designated ticket or appeal channel — not to argue publicly in the server. Publicly contesting, undermining, or disrespecting moderation decisions in any channel is considered interference with moderation and may result in an escalated punishment.

Section V — Channel Usage & Etiquette

5.1 — Channel Purpose Compliance

Every channel in this server exists for a specific purpose. Read the channel description or pinned messages before posting. Posting off-topic content in a channel repeatedly, after being warned, is considered channel spam and will be actioned accordingly. Use the correct channel for your message — do not post game feedback in announcements, do not post memes in development discussion channels, etc.

5.2 — Spam & Message Flooding

The following behaviors constitute spam and are prohibited across all channels:

  • Sending the same or very similar message repeatedly in quick succession.

  • Sending excessively long messages that serve no purpose beyond disrupting the channel.

  • Posting content at an unreasonable frequency that floods the channel and buries other conversations.

  • Excessive use of line breaks, blank messages, or text-fill characters to artificially extend messages.

  • Copy-pasting the same content across multiple channels simultaneously.

5.3 — Mentions & Pinging

Mass pinging — including the use of @everyone, @here, or mass-mentioning multiple users unnecessarily — is strictly reserved for authorized staff. Unauthorized use of mass mentions will result in an immediate mute and potentially a ban depending on context. Pinging individual members repeatedly when they have not responded or have asked you to stop also constitutes harassment.

5.4 — Thread & Forum Conduct

When using forum channels or threads, members must stay on-topic for the thread subject. Creating duplicate threads for topics already being actively discussed is not permitted. Do not necro-post (revive very old, resolved threads) unless you have meaningful new information to contribute. Thread titles must be descriptive and appropriate.

5.5 — Reactions & Emoji Usage

Reactions should be used naturally and expressively. Mass-reacting to a member's messages with negative or mocking emojis as a form of targeted mockery is considered harassment. Emoji spam that disrupts conversation readability is also subject to moderation.

5.6 — Pinned Messages

Do not request to have messages pinned in any channel unless specifically invited to do so by staff. Petitioning for personal message pins or meme pins in serious channels is considered disruptive behavior.

Section VI — Voice Channel Rules

6.1 — General Voice Conduct

All conduct standards outlined in Section IV apply equally in voice channels. Verbal harassment, slurs, hate speech, threats, or toxic behavior in voice is treated with the same severity as written violations.

6.2 — Mic & Audio Quality

Disruptive audio — including but not limited to excessively loud microphones, constant background noise, audio feedback, soundboards used to flood channels with noise, or playing music through your microphone in non-designated spaces — is prohibited. Staff may ask you to mute or adjust your audio settings, and failure to comply will result in a server mute or removal from the channel.

6.3 — Recording in Voice Channels

Recording audio or video from any RIVET Studios™ voice channel without the explicit, prior consent of all participants is strictly prohibited. Sharing recordings of voice conversations — whether recorded within this server or elsewhere — without consent is a serious violation of member privacy and may result in a permanent ban.

6.4 — Voice Channel Squatting

Joining a voice channel solely to disrupt, listen in without participating (in contexts where this causes discomfort), or prevent others from using the space is not permitted. Staff may move or disconnect members from voice channels at their discretion.

6.5 — Screensharing & Video Standards

Content shared via screenshare or video must comply with the same standards as all other media in this server. Sharing explicit, illegal, or copyrighted content via screenshare is prohibited and will be handled as a standard media violation.

Section VII — Media, Links & File Sharing

7.1 — NSFW & Explicit Content

While RIVET Studios™ operates as a 13+ community, the public-facing channels of this server are not an appropriate venue for explicit sexual content. Pornographic images, videos, GIFs, or written descriptions posted in general or topic-specific channels are prohibited. Any designated channels for mature content (if applicable) will have their own specific rules posted within them. Explicit content posted outside of explicitly designated channels will result in immediate removal of the content and disciplinary action.

7.2 — Graphic Violence & Gore

Graphic depictions of real-world violence, gore, death, self-harm, or torture — whether photographs, video, or illustrations — are prohibited in all channels. This includes shock content posted for the purpose of disturbing or upsetting other members.

Punishment: Immediate ban review.

7.3 — Dangerous & Malicious Links

The sharing of any of the following is a critical violation and will result in an immediate and permanent ban:

  • IP loggers or link shorteners that conceal tracking payloads.

  • Phishing links designed to steal credentials or personal information.

  • Malware, viruses, or other malicious software downloads.

  • Links to sites that distribute illegal content, exploit minors, or facilitate criminal activity.

  • Fake storefronts or scam pages designed to defraud members.

Punishment: Permanent Ban. Possible referral to Discord Trust & Safety and law enforcement.

7.4 — Unverified Software & Downloads

Sharing executable files (.exe, .bat, .apk, scripts, etc.) or links to unverified software downloads is not permitted without prior approval from Leadership. Even if your intentions are legitimate, the risk this poses to other members is unacceptable. Use official distribution platforms and obtain approval before sharing software resources.

7.5 — Copyright & Stolen Assets

Sharing, distributing, requesting, or discussing the following is strictly prohibited and may result in permanent blacklisting:

  • Leaked game builds, internal development files, or unreleased proprietary assets.

  • "Cracked" or pirated software, games, or tools.

  • Stolen art, music, or intellectual property from any creator or studio.

  • Assets ripped from games without authorization from the rights holder.

RIVET Studios™ takes intellectual property extremely seriously. Violations here are treated as a direct threat to the studio's operations.

Punishment: Permanent Ban & Studio-Wide Blacklist.

7.6 — AI-Generated Content

Posting AI-generated images, text, or other content is permitted in designated channels only, and must be clearly labeled as AI-generated. AI-generated content must still comply with all standard content rules. Using AI-generated content to impersonate real people — members, public figures, or otherwise — is prohibited.

7.7 — Memes & Humor

Memes and humor are welcome in appropriate channels. However, humor that relies on racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory themes is not acceptable — regardless of framing. "It's just a meme" is not an excuse. Dark humor must be exercised carefully; when in doubt, don't post it.

Section VIII — Privacy & Personal Information

8.1 — Doxing

Sharing the private personal information of any individual — member or otherwise — without their clear and explicit consent is a severe violation. This includes:

  • Real name (if not publicly disclosed by the individual).

  • Home address, workplace, or school.

  • Phone number or personal email address.

  • Financial information.

  • Location data, IP address, or device information.

  • Government-issued identification.

Doxing will result in an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to law enforcement.

Punishment: Permanent Ban. Possible referral to law enforcement.

8.2 — Sharing Others' Private Conversations

Posting screenshots of private DMs or other private conversations involving a member — even if the content appears damning — without the consent of all parties is a violation of privacy. If you believe someone's private messages constitute a serious rule violation, report it to staff privately and let moderation handle it appropriately. Do not post it publicly.

8.3 — Protecting Your Own Information

We strongly advise all members not to share personal identifying information in public channels. RIVET Studios™ is not responsible for the consequences of a member voluntarily sharing their own private information in the server.

8.4 — Member Information & Staff Confidentiality

Members may not attempt to solicit private information about other members from staff. Staff are not permitted to disclose private member information and are instructed to refuse such requests.

Section IX — Financial Conduct & Solicitation

9.1 — Unauthorized Advertising & Promotion

Promoting your own content, services, social media, YouTube channel, Twitch stream, game project, or any commercial offering without prior written approval from RIVET Studios™ Leadership is strictly prohibited. Unsolicited promotion will be removed and may result in a ban depending on frequency and context.

9.2 — Scamming & Financial Fraud

Any attempt to defraud members — including but not limited to fake giveaways, counterfeit exchange offers, impersonating storefronts, or directing members to fraudulent external platforms — is a critical violation.

Punishment: Permanent Ban. Possible referral to law enforcement.

9.3 — Get-Rich-Quick Schemes & MLM Promotion

Sharing, promoting, or recruiting members into pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing programs, cryptocurrency pump-and-dump schemes, investment solicitations, or similar exploitative structures is prohibited.

Punishment: Permanent Ban.

9.4 — Begging & Soliciting Financial Assistance

Soliciting money, gift cards, game codes, digital goods, or any item of value from other community members is not permitted. This is a development community, not a financial aid platform.

9.5 — Gambling Content

Promoting real-money gambling services, betting platforms, or directing members to gambling-adjacent content (including loot box exploits, gambling-themed referral codes, etc.) is not permitted.

Section X — Direct Messages (DMs) & Off-Server Conduct

10.1 — Unsolicited DMs to Staff

Corporate Officers, Developers, and Senior Staff members are not to be DMed directly for support inquiries, project pitches, bug reports, appeals, or general assistance. All support is handled through the official ticketing system. Unsolicited DMs to staff members will be ignored and the sender may receive a warning or temporary mute.

10.2 — DM Harassment

Harassing, threatening, or repeatedly messaging a community member in DMs after being asked to stop — even if the communication takes place outside of the server — is a violation of these community standards if the relationship originated from this server. Such behavior will be actioned accordingly.

10.3 — Off-Server Conduct

RIVET Studios™ reserves the right to remove individuals from this server based on conduct observed outside the Discord server, including but not limited to behavior on other platforms, public social media, or other communities, when that conduct is sufficiently harmful, illegal, or incompatible with our community values. This is exercised at the discretion of Leadership.

10.4 — DM Advertising

Sending unsolicited promotional or advertising messages to members via DM — whether for your own project, an affiliate service, or any third-party — is a bannable offense.

Section XI — Sensitive & Political Topics

11.1 — Political Discussion

RIVET Studios™ is a gaming and development community, not a political forum. Debate or discussion of political parties, electoral politics, partisan ideology, or divisive political figures is not appropriate in this server and may be removed at staff discretion.

11.2 — Sensitive Social Topics

Discussion of highly sensitive social topics — including topics related to mental health, substance use, self-harm, suicide, abuse, or trauma — should be handled with extreme care and compassion. These topics must not be engaged with in a mocking, dismissive, or exploitative manner. If such topics arise, members are encouraged to direct those in need to appropriate professional resources.

Content that glorifies, promotes, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide is absolutely prohibited and will result in an immediate permanent ban.

11.3 — Religious & Philosophical Discussions

Respectful, good-faith discussion of religion or philosophy is generally permitted in appropriate channels. Using religion or philosophical frameworks to justify hate speech, discriminatory behavior, or targeted attacks on members is not acceptable.

Section XII — Bug Reports, Feedback & Development Interaction

12.1 — Use Official Channels

All bug reports, feature requests, and game feedback must be submitted through the designated channels for that purpose. Posting reports or feedback in unrelated channels, pinging developers directly, or spamming feedback across multiple channels is not permitted and will not result in your report being prioritized — in fact, it may result in it being ignored entirely.

12.2 — Constructive Feedback Only

Criticism of RIVET Studios™ projects is welcome and valued, but it must be constructive. Feedback that consists entirely of insults, demands, entitlement, or bad-faith complaints does not contribute meaningfully to development and will be removed. You are entitled to your opinion, but you must express it respectfully.

12.3 — Spoilers & Leaks

Posting leaked information about RIVET Studios™ projects — whether obtained through unauthorized access, data mining, insider sources, or elsewhere — is strictly prohibited. The use of spoiler tags does not exempt content that constitutes a leak of proprietary information. Leaking internal content is treated as an intellectual property violation.

Punishment: Permanent Ban & Studio-Wide Blacklist.

12.4 — False Reporting

Submitting deliberately false bug reports, fabricated feedback, or fraudulent support tickets in order to waste staff time, harm another member, or manipulate outcomes is prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.

Section XIII — Moderation & Enforcement

13.1 — Moderation Authority

The RIVET Studios™ Moderation Team has full authority to enforce these rules and maintain order in the server. Moderators act in accordance with the guidelines set by Leadership and are expected to be impartial, professional, and fair. Their decisions are final in-server unless formally appealed through the proper process.

13.2 — Punishment Tiers

The following general framework governs enforcement, though severity may be adjusted based on context and the discretion of senior staff:

  • Verbal Warning: Issued for minor or first-time low-severity infractions.

  • Formal Warning: Issued for repeated minor violations or moderate infractions. Logged against your account.

  • Timeout / Mute: Temporary removal of messaging privileges for escalating or moderate violations.

  • Temporary Ban: Removal from the server for a defined period. Duration varies by severity.

  • Permanent Ban: Irreversible removal from the server. Issued for severe violations or repeated failure to reform.

  • Studio-Wide Blacklist: Extends beyond the Discord server to all RIVET Studios™ platforms, games, and services. Reserved for the most egregious violations.

13.3 — Context & Discretion

Not every situation is black and white. Moderators are empowered to use judgment and context when applying punishments. Two incidents that appear similar on the surface may be handled differently based on history, intent, and impact. RIVET Studios™ reserves the right to remove any individual whose presence is deemed detrimental to the health of the community or the progress of our studio, even if no specific rule has been explicitly violated.

13.4 — Appeals Process

If you believe a moderation action was applied incorrectly, unjustly, or without proper consideration of context, you may submit a formal appeal. Appeals must be submitted through the designated appeal ticket system and must include:

  • Your Discord username and ID.

  • The nature of the action taken against you.

  • A clear, calm, and factual explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect.

  • Any relevant evidence (screenshots, context, etc.).

Appeals that consist of insults toward staff, demands, or emotionally reactive content will be dismissed. Appeals for permanent bans issued for zero-tolerance violations (impersonation, doxing, CSAM, malicious links, etc.) will not be reviewed. Leadership's final decision on appeals is binding.

13.5 — Reporting Violations

If you witness a rule violation, do not engage with or confront the person publicly. Use the designated reporting mechanism (report ticket, bot command, or direct message to an available moderator) and provide as much information as possible, including screenshots where applicable. False or malicious reports are themselves a violation of these rules.

13.6 — Staff Conduct

Members of the RIVET Studios™ Moderation Team are also subject to these community standards. Staff who abuse their authority, act with bias, engage in favoritism, or conduct themselves in a manner unbecoming of their role may be reported directly to Senior Leadership for review. Staff are expected to be professional, consistent, and transparent in their enforcement.

Section XIV — Terms of Service Compliance

14.1 — Discord Terms of Service

All members must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines at all times while in this server. Violations of Discord's ToS — including but not limited to account age fraud, posting CSAM, engaging in coordinated harassment campaigns, or ban evasion — will be actioned by RIVET Studios™ moderation and reported to Discord Trust & Safety.

Discord's Terms of Service can be found at: https://discord.com/terms

14.2 — RIVET Studios™ Master Agreement

Participation in this server is also governed by the RIVET Studios™ Master Agreement, which covers your relationship with the studio across all platforms and services. By remaining in this server, you confirm your continued acceptance of that agreement. Violations of the Master Agreement may result in actions that extend beyond this server.

14.3 — Applicable Law

Illegal activity — including threats, fraud, distribution of CSAM, doxing, stalking, or any other conduct that violates applicable law — will not be protected by any privacy or community standard. RIVET Studios™ will cooperate fully with law enforcement where required or appropriate.

Section XV — Final Provisions

15.1 — Rule Amendments

These rules are subject to change at any time. When significant changes are made, a notice will be posted in the designated announcements channel. Continued participation in the server following a rule update constitutes acceptance of the revised rules. It is your responsibility to stay informed.

15.2 — Staff Authority is Final

In situations not explicitly covered by this rulebook, RIVET Studios™ Leadership and Moderation reserve the right to make judgment calls in the best interest of the community. The spirit of these rules — maintaining a professional, safe, and productive environment — takes precedence over technicalities.

15.3 — Enforcement is Non-Negotiable

Attempting to find loopholes in these rules, rules-lawyering, or deliberately operating in a gray area with the intent to cause harm while remaining technically compliant is behavior that will still be actioned at the discretion of Leadership. If you have to ask whether something is allowed, it probably isn't.

15.4 — Contact & Support

For support, appeals, or inquiries, use the designated ticket system within the server. Do not DM staff directly. RIVET Studios™ is committed to responding to legitimate concerns in a timely and professional manner.

By remaining a member of the RIVET Studios™ Discord server, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by all rules contained in this document. Thank you for being part of the RIVET Studios™ community — let's build something great together.

— RIVET Studios™ Leadership Team
